Does UHAS offer medicine?

Yes UHAS offer medicine.

The Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) Programme covers a period of six (6) years.

The first three (3) years is the pre-clinical phase of training which involves exposing students to the Basic Sciences.

The second three (3) years is devoted to clinical training based on the clerkship system using the Ho Teaching Hospital and other Municipal and District Hospitals in the Region.

During this phase of the training, students rotate in groups through the five major departments which includes; Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Community Medicine.

In addition, students gain exposure to other clinical specialties such as Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery, Dermatology, Oncology, Palliative care, Psychiatry and Forensic Pathology.
